It was bitter sweet victory as Pierre Gasly of Aplha Tauri finished first followed by Carlos Sainz of Mclaren and Lance Stroll of Racing point , this race gave mid table teams a silver lining after Lewis Hamilton took the 10 second penalty for entering the pit lane when it was closed, the six time champion decided to pit after the restart of the race following Scuderia Ferrari Charles Leclerc’s crash at lap 23 earlier on his team mate Sebastian Vettel retired lap six after his brakes failed.
Lewis Hamilton dropped to position seventeen but in dramatic fashion finished at position seven with the fastest lap earning Mercedes a point. His team mate Bottas finished fifth. Red bull racing were not lucky as Max Verstappen who was expected to challenge Lewis retired at lap 30 after a suspected engine failure. His team mate Albon finished fifteenth denying the team much needed points.
Another notable retirement during the race was Haas Kevin Magnussen at lap 20 after his car suffered a gear box issue. This was undeniably the best race of the season for Formula 1 fans.
